On January 15, Kansas City’s Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA) invited incoming kindergarteners to experience a taste of kindergarten at HBHA. The parents and children did a few simple lessons together with the teachers. With kindergarten teachers Morahh Nira Solomon and Morah Bracha Schulgasser they had a short Hebrew/Judaic lesson. With Mrs. Nicole Hollingsworth they do an interactive math lesson. It was a fun and upbeat environment for these pre-kindergartners.
The kids then stayed in a class while the parents all came together and talked about the school and watched a video which was created by Senior Alex Sher at her CAPS iMedia class. When the future students left, they left with three things: the Hebrew letter ש (shin) that they created and colored and learned how to pronounce, a picture of their group, a frame they decorated from the program, and HBHA shoe laces and a guide on how to tie their shoes. A Taste of Kindergarten gave future HBHA kindergartners a glimpse of what HBHA is all about.
