Every year, the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy high school students take a day-long field trip to Tucker Leadership Lab, a ropes challenge course at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. The freshmen work on teambuilding skills and exercises. Sophomores test the skills they learned the previous year, but this time they are on the high ropes course. Juniors experience even more challenging tasks on the high ropes. Seniors, however, climb The Tower. The Tower is a five-story structure with climbing grips, T-nuts, nets, rope ladders, and daunting hanging structures. Two seniors belay a fellow senior as they brave the heights. Some students even blindfold themselves as an extra challenge. Senior Moriah Abrams shares, “Ever since we started going to Tucker, I’ve been so excited about climbing the tower my senior year. It was very scary, but I felt incredibly accomplished when got to the top”.
